An interesting serial killer novel -- I thought the characters were great and the plot was was wonderfully twisty.
Two issues, though:
1. I think there were a LOT of problems with the translation. I don't understand that -- this was an eagerly awaited translation! But there were many times that the translation was off and the pulled me from the book.
2. This is the 7th in the series, but the first available in English. I think I would have preferred to read them in order, because there were definitely references to earlier books and I didn't understand them.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Lots of twists and turns and although I did figure out who the final bad guy was, it was really well put together. Not as gruesome as Stieg Larsson's trio, nor as sexual but still a good read and a nice glimpse into Norway and the Norwegians.
A good, solid mystery. Very much along the same lines of Mankell and Larsson's books. Excellent sense of place, flawed main character who loves the ladies, and riveting story. This is my first Nesbo book, and I'll definitely read more.

I have really mixed feelings about this book. I was really intrigued at first, but then somewhere toward the last two-thirds of the book I got lost and started losing interest...I wonder if some of this is because 1) it's a translation and wasn't written in English and 2) there were just TOO MANY moving parts to the story. I felt that the author made the book a lot more complex than it needed to be, and that while the premise was seemingly incredible, it got to be kind of a task to finish reading the book.
