this book is dark but the mystery aspect was done really well -- a well crafted mystery. this is what i mean when i say i like mystery and thriller books! it's unfortunate that the movie flopped bc this book is spectacular

This was surprising good, especially once I found out it was one of those detective series gigs. Pleasantly dark and twisted, engaging, and interesting. I'd recommend it to fans of "Silence of the Lambs" and "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" (although it's not quite as good as THAT ;)).
I only dabble in this genre, but I really enjoyed this one. I'll definitely read more of the Harry Hole books.
I don't know if I wasn't in the right mindset for this book or what. I wasn't compelled to read it. The murderer is creepy as all hell and periodically I would have to put it down while I was reading before bed because it made me scared I was going to take it to my dreams. I would try another in the series. Good plot twists and general plot line.
