I hadn't read a Rizzoli and Isles book in a bit. I was starting to not like how Tess Gerritsen was writing Maura. I liked the character well enough but at times I was also disconnecting from the character. However,maybe time away helped because I liked the Rizzoli and Isles characters as much as I did when I first started reading this series.
I liked the double story of both Boston and Botswana. I actually enjoyed the safari gone wrong part a little more. Overall good mystery. I enjoyed the big cat angle too. A little graphic in the dead body description, as a warning for those who really don't like messy murder scenes. I personally didn't mind,but I read splatter punk a lot so gruesome details don't bother me.
Good mystery and can be mostly read as a stand alone exception of a few Jane and Maura sections.

I recently became obsessed with the Rizzoli & Isles TV show and was ecstatic when I realized there are books! I’m currently at my grandma’s and I noticed she had this laying on the coffee table, so I asked if I could read it. I wasn’t expecting to finish it in one day! Now I want to get the others in the series and start from the beginning! This is a great murder mystery and I love her unique take on multiple perspectives

I adore Rizzoli & Isles - they are strong characters and their interaction is fantastic. Supported by an array of other characters, including survivor Millie, the twosome work to uncover the identity of a serial killer and bring them to justice.
Gerritsen's delightful prose brings each character and each of the locations to life. Her rich descriptive text ensured I could almost smell the African bush, not to mention the eviscerated remains. Although there are a few quite bloody scenes, somehow this author has a way of getting the picture across without the need for unnecessary goriness.
With more tension than a tightly strung guitar, the crime-fighting duo use their expertise and experience to track down the killer, desperate to discover their identity before they dispose of the only survivor of their gruesome attacks. Suspenseful and exciting, this book had me on the edge of my seat. With the killer's identity only revealed at the very last minute, it really kept me guessing. Brilliant.
If you've never read Gerritsen, you're missing out!
