This book was just unputdownable.... It would have been a perfect read if the MO of the killer wouldn’t have been all over the place.
Spoilers ahead:
The killer switched between guns and gutting people.
Like if they want to gut people, they gut people and if they want to finish off with a single shot and walk away, they do that. It is weird for one killer to keep on switching between them, for one victim to next. And moreover the woman survivor only survived because that one night he decided not to eviscerate his victims. Like.... that is sheer dumb luck. And I thought killers were faithful to their MOs. Or even if they changed their MO they just did it all together, they did not go back and forth.
The above paragraph is the reason I had to give this book a 3 star. The book was very engaging but it had a big flaw in the very core of the plot.

The book made no sense and it didn't give the satisfaction that Gerritsen's early books provided. Felt like the author was meandering through the story with no real goal, then suddenly changed to setting to South Africa, and finally back to Boston for a rushed finish. Also, the pov from the victim Millie was also disconcerting.

Tess Gerritson is the mistress of suspense, action and mystery!! I was not disappointed in this well-crafted tale that takes us from Boston to Botswana!! Amazing plot twists and wonderful new characters. I heard Tess talk about this book a couple of weeks ago telling of her time in he African bush and her experiences on safari with her husband. Great to read another Rizzoli & Isles and they're both in top form! Great book and I can't wait for the next one!
I love a good mystery that makes me guess who the killer is. Tess Gerritsen kept me guessing until the very last minute.
I really enjoyed the back and fourth between Boston and Africa. Overall another good Rizzoli & Isles book.
Die Again, the 11th volume in Tess Gerritsen's crime/mystery/thriller series featuring Jane Rizzoli, Boston cop, and Dr. Maura Isles, M.E., is another tautly paced novel with a rather unusual serial killer and lots of clues that need to be processed before the real killer is identified.
Fortunately, this time around there were no personal links to Rizzoli or Isles, and neither one finds herself alone and in mortal danger - they're just two investigators working a case, and the intense jeopardy scene falls, as is proper, to the person who holds the one piece of information that could crack the case.
We also see new developments in our intrepid investigator's personal lives, which in my opinion do not bode well for Jane and Maura, but we will have to wait for the next installment to find out where those are taking us.

This is definitely my favorite of the series so far. I loved the back and forth from Botswana to Boston. Just a terrific book that had me hooked from page one to the end.
Such an enthralling, in depth story! Love this series!!
