It's been a while since I had time to read a book, and what a book to start back up again with! So good.
Unfortunately history repeats itself. The names listed on the last few pages join a seemingly never ending list of people that were killed by police.
I really loved the Tupac quotes throughout.
I loved the moments of family bonding. Starr's family and friends are so realistically written. I feel like they are members of my own family.

This book is powerful and everybody should take some time to read it. I got emotional while reading this. I wanted to scream and throw the book at certain parts. There were some parts that made me smile and others that made me wanna cry. Overall, this book was brutal to make its point and powerful nevertheless. It deserves all of the stars and all of the awards.
Where do I even start? I couldn’t put this book down, and the seldom times I did, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Angie Thomas gave me a book full of humor, heart, and awareness of social issues from racism to classism. I’d heard of protests, riots, systematic oppression. I’ve seen the news. Thomas puts you in the shoes of someone who is new to the evils of society, but chooses not to stay victimized. I cannot recommend this book enough.

I'm not sure how much I can say about this book that hasn't already been said, and any attempt to truly review this book will inevitably be inadequate. It is phenomenal.

Angie Thomas is such an amazing author and writer, and this book is one of my favorite books to talk to others about. There is so much content and so many various issues the author tackles in this book. This book is just like an onion, there are so many layers to it and all of its characters. I have reread this book so many times, and I plan on rereading more.
