They're starting to feel formulaic, so maybe don't read a bunch back to back. But they are good.

This is a banger of a story and in my opinion Butcher steps up his game, without losing his style of quick, readable, action-packed noir vibe. This story packs a punch as it features the summer and winter courts, the denarians, the knights of the cross, the archive, the Wardens, Kincaid, Marcone and his organisation, Murphy, Thomas, Molly and they're all relevant to the actual plot. And I did not even mention the creatures and beings you do not know from reading previous entries in the Dresden files.

There is not much else to say, as these stories unfold in a way that anything else would contain spoilers. I will say that it is in this book that I really start to love many of the cast and really start to appreciate the potential of the world that Butcher is creating in this series.

If you've read up to this book, you're a certified idiot if you do not continue reading 'small favor'. ;)

I finally cared about a Dresden book, took a bit too long maybe but we're here at least. Short time frame stories where everything happens so fast is nice, everything happens fast and feels more fulfilling to read through. Thomas continues to be best boy and so help me if anything lasting happens to Michael I will be infinitely sad. Harry continually playing nice and kinda being friends with the "bad" guys is fun again as always.

I'm getting pretty close to caught up! This wasn't my favorite by any means, but it was still pretty darn good. What can I really say about this series, ten books in? It hasn't disappointed me ever, that's for sure. On to the next!

2014 Re-Read Review Update: I stand by my original review. Not my favorite by any means, but still darn tootin' good.
