And back again to Bayern, this time with Razo as the protagonist. I'd never would have thought that Razo should be the main character, but now I love him. He's the greatest thing since sliced bread. My only problem with this book is how heinous Enna is in it. Seriously, Finn, you deserve better, dude. come, I'll give you a hug.

I love Razo. In the first book I love that he treats Isi the same even after learning she's a princess. I love that he weeps openly when he is given a javelin at the end of that same story. I love his friendship and dedication in Enna Burning. He gets into some serious trouble in that book and it's all because he cares about his friends. He's a funny, friendly, entertaining character and I was thrilled when I realized this book was from his perspective. It was interesting getting a glimpse into his thoughts and insecurities that are legit and you honestly feel for Razo. I loved how he befriended people - including the Prince! And was able to cause more friendly feelings between kingdoms. I enjoyed watching him grow up and learn that he is worthwhile, that he is special in his own way. He doesn't have a gift like Isi or Enna that he has to learn to control, but he is able to do important, vital things in this story. I love his relationship with Dasha, they are so cute and perfect together. This book is definitely the second best in the series for me.

I like that we continue to get glimpses into Isi and Geric's relationship and see Isi as a mother rather than an insecure teenager or overwhelmed powerhouse. I like the glimpses into Finn and Enna's relationship, even if she is being dumb about things the entire book. I don't understand why she is so silly with Finn but I'm glad when he is finally able to do something that gets her to let go of her sudden insecurities and embrace him and his love for good.

I think the mystery and adventure is higher in this book which makes it more fun. I enjoy the way Razo interacts with other characters and it's fun to see his motivation for doing much of what he does. It's also entertaining to see him fall in love and be clueless as to what's happened and what should happen next. I love Dasha's character and think Talone is a pretty cool dude. It was nice getting a little more of him in the books, I've always liked him. From the moment he took care of Isi as a little girl.

All in all, this book is just plain fun.
adventurous hopeful medium-paced

This one was cute. I liked the mystery of it too

This book was amazing, if a bit disturbing.
Spoiler(Burning yourself from the inside doesn't sound nice. At all.)
The plot and the characters were astounding (simply because I don't want to use amazing again). Razo's ever-present humor was there, but this book showed a different side to him. Enna's personality really showed through in this book.

Next book I have to read is Enna Burning. I know it comes before River Secrets. And I read the one about Rin before this one. But who really cares? Hale is an epic writer.

This series holds up as an adult - so rare to find. Razo is just the kind of spy I love to read about.
