It's no 'Bernadette' but there's a lot to love from this once the initial story gets going. The whole farce on a page thing is really well handled although naturally you are irritated by the main character in lots of parts, which is the idea.

A fine beach read - maybe a bit wittier than a beach read - but just a discount version of WDYGB.

10 pages in: This is a lot like Where'd You Go Bernadette
50 pages in: I don't know -- this narrator might be too manic for me...but there are a couple of questions that are intriguing....
Middle of the book: Narrative shift to third person -- really interesting and moving backstory.
Last third of the book: Back to manic, and now increasingly annoying, narrator
It read quickly -- had some laugh-aloud observations about 40 something privileged white mommies, and 50 pages in the middle of the book was great.
All that said, not sure I'd read more Semple.

This book was a struggle. I loved Where'd You Go, Bernadette? But this one fell short. The books are similar, but I found a hard time garnering sympathy for the main character as she bumbles through this day making bad decision after bad decision. At this moment, the only thing I liked about the book was the use of a 'concussion app' which asked the user questions in order to diagnose a possible concussion. The artwork was interesting.

Didn't love this. "Where'd you go, Bernadette" was much better. I was definitely disappointed.

Solid 4 because of the audiobook narration. Plenty of parts were laugh-out-loud funny, especially between Eleanor and Timby. Eleanor’s flashbacks were initially hard to follow, though. I had to listen to them a couple times to fully understand what was happening. I would listen to this again.

A book about a single day that begs be be read over the course of a single day. I liked the frenetic, break-neck speed of the narrative.

I really enjoyed this book, and found the writing to be fresh and immediately engrossing! This is my book club's book for February, and I can't wait to discuss it.

6 hours of whining about how being white and rich is so hard and attempting and failing to be aware of how ridiculous this is. And the ending was very disappointing.
