“I’d finally fallen in love, and it already hurt so much worse than I ever thought it could.” ~ Logan

I think I felt every emotion while reading Logan and Hannah’s story. I also didn’t know whether to hate Cole or feel some sort of empathy for him. This book is about so much more than just falling in love. It’s also about healing and finding yourself.

Cole’s rockstar fame and his family weren’t enough to tame his demons and he succumbed to his addictions. Logan failed to save Cole’s life like he saved so many others as a paramedic. He couldn’t shake the guilt that caused and he put himself in Hannah’s life with intentions of making sure she would be okay and would get through the loss of her husband. However, the closer they got the harder it was for Logan to tell Hannah the truth for fear of breaking her again.

Hannah put her heart out there so many times for Logan, who was secretly struggling between right and wrong. But he always came running when she needed him, whenever she called. Logan was everything Hannah needed and deserved. I wanted them to be together and I couldn’t handle the anxiety that brought on. When the wall finally came crashing down I wasn’t as prepared as I thought I would be.

Then just when I thought everything was going to be okay, the rug got pulled out from under me with such force. They say sometimes you don’t realize what you have until you lose it, or almost lose it. Logan came into Hannah’s life for a reason and maybe Cole had more to do with it than not. They found themselves through each other. This book does have an HEA, but not before the author tears your heart out a few times over first. Despite that, I loved it all and there was definitely a lot of healing in the end.

“You once told me that you’d be there for me whenever I called, Logan. You promised. Well, this is me calling, and I need you to answer,” I whispered. “Come back to me.” ~ Hannah

When I first read the blurb for Whenever You Call, I knew that I had to read it. Vicki James is a new to me author and this book did not disappoint at all.

Logan is called to the scene of a fatal overdose for a famous rock star. After losing the patient, he finds himself wondering how the family he left behind is doing. While driving by the wife, Hanna’s, house, he consciously follows her to make sure she is ok. After Hanna backs her car, accidentally, into Logan’s, they start to form a unique friendship. He tells her that he will be there for her as someone who will listen and not judge, but she doesn’t know his deepest secret and regret, that he was the paramedic on duty when her husband unexpectedly died.

Hanna was Cole Newman’s wife. That has been her sole identity for years since they got married. Hanna is also the mother to Cole’s daughter Bella. When Cole dies, both Hanna and Bella struggle in different ways to accept his death.

Through it all, Hanna and Logan start to get closer and closer. Will they be able to move forward with a relationship when Hanna is still plagued by guilt and anger and Logan is holding onto a huge secret?

Honestly, this is one of my favorite reads of 2022! I loved it so much. The progression of their relationship was the perfect speed for me. Even when they were having their issues, I was always rooting for them and the future that they could have.

One of my favorite parts of this book was the epilogue, which is never my favorite, but it was SO GOOD. It really made the book stand out to me. I don’t want to spoiler it, but it was so great.

Overall, I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read more by Vicki James in the future.

It took me a while to get into this book and appreciate it for what it is.
I love the dynamic between Logan and Hannah. He is a freaking gem who pushed Hannah to be the best version of herself despite the crap that she was having to deal with. I loved the way they communicated with each other from the very beginning (minus that one thing, of course) and had open dialogue about grief.
James handled this topic with so much care and respect despite it being the hardest thing for us humans to wrap our heads around.
also, Bella, the freaking cutest, most precious tiny human! She was very mature for her age in a very naive and innocent way and had a great outlook on life.

I though about dnfing this book when I first started because it was a heavy topic for me personally but I am so glad I didn't do that!

5 stars. What a read and I really dunno what to say about. The end almost made me cry. I was like: Am I gonna read to the end or stop for a bit? But I choose the first one. This book was just full of emotions.
Logan and Hannah were like the best couple ever. Where she needed him to stop her panic attacks, he was there to pick her up. And Hannah gave hem a life which he started to live. But little Bella, Hannah daughters, she was such a cute kid. And so open minded and so smart. Vicki is really good at writing about the rockstar live, all tho Logan wasn’t the rockstar in this book. A slow burn romance which is worth reading. It is an angsty read and I recognixed myself in it. But the most beautiful thing about this book is how people can still help people and don’t expect anything in return for it.

Wauw... I just don't have the words...
This woman just knows how she needs to put emotion in a book.
This is an angsty emotional ride from the moment you get on that train.
I don't want to spoil to much, but this story shows the downside of being a wife of a popstar, the Hollywood lifestyle and everything in between. But it also shows how beautiful people can be for one another. She just pun the words to perfection and you need to read this.

If you are like me and now and then are seeking a great romance full of angst and emotions, then look no further than this book.

I love Vicki’s books, and this one hit all the marks for what I’m seeking in a romance story.

Logan and Hannah are not your usual couple. They fall in love when unexpected circumstances come down on both.

Logan is still feeling guilty for not being able to help his friend when he dies.

Hannah is a single mother that didn’t have her husband around for long as he was one of the most looked up rockstar and she is left to take care of their young daughter.

The emotions are felt throughout the story. With each chapter, I felt like something good must happen to them both because I can’t take this anymore. They deserve better, both of them. And then it does.

And it also shows how much love can do. It can heal and give hopes where needed.

Beautifully written, angsty and a must read romance book.

Where do I start to review this book, quite honestly, I haven't a clue, nothing I say will do it Justice, such a beautifully written story. Every time you read one of Vicki's books you say, "it can't get any better than that one" and every time you are proved so wrong. The emotions that Vicki put in this book you feel so deeply, you feel so connected with the story and the characters.

Everyone should have a Logan in their life, I fell in love with him from the start, he just wants to make sure Hannah and Bella are safe, looked after and happy, I love he kept telling her "Tomorrow is Tomorrow's problem". There is so much I could say about Logan, but you need to read this book for yourself and feel him.

Hannah is strong but also weak, it depends who is around her, she was in love with her husband Cole, but also hated him at the same time, her focus now was on her daughter Bella, and the man that told her she can call whenever, and he will be there.

5 stars is just not enough for this book, this is a must read, grab a glass of wine, a tissue and settle down and go in, I promise you won't regret it.
