I did not see that coming.

This is really interesting. I was expecting something and the story changed by itself without warning.

Be careful with time travel, its consequences and your choices in life.

ARC from author in exchange for an honest opinion.

This was a small story about a girl and a boy who could time travel. Beth's idea of using sci-fi genre is well known and she doesn't miss a chance to place it on every detail. While I idn't expect this plot when I began the short story, I was surprised by the ending and the justice which was given.

I can't wait to read the whole collection!

Read this review on my blog :)

Summary: Short story about a time traveler. It's a short story, I can't say more than that without spoiling.

Beth Revis is my girl. I've loved everything she has ever written. (You can read my review of her latest book here btw). T]his is part of a bigger collection of stories I need to get to. I got this story for free from a giveaway on her newsletter a while ago and read it right after but kept forgetting to write a review until now.

It was definitely not what I expected. At all. I was sitting at lunch and gasped out loud and then I had to tell everybody the entire story. It's different from most sci-fi. I'm trying not to spoil anything I'm sorry I'm being so vague. The main character is so badass, I was rooting for her so much. This is actually the first anything I've read anything with a asexual main character (maybe any character). I recommend this to everyone and anyone and already have recommended it to a few.

Clever, if unsurprising.

This short story follows Franklin, a time traveler with limited abilities: He can only travel into the past within his own lifetime. And then a girl shows up in his life. She claims to have met a future version of himself, and that the machine she invented will help him to go anywhere in the past or the future without limitations. When Heather shows Franklin the machine, she ensures him that they will change the world together and make it a better place. But Franklin can't help but feel a little ominous about it all...

You know blurbs that give nothing away? This is one of them. I went into the book thinking it was about something and it turned out something else altogether - much to my delight, actually. Henceforth, there will be SPOILERS so be warned!! Revis put a twist on a standard tale and damn, she turned the protagonist into an antagonist into a single freaking line! I must say, this was a delightful piece of work, especially the revenge she takes on him. Too long we have had the special character be a fountain of goodness - now we get a badass girl who takes her future into her own hands. Amazing storyline, and good plot twist - only thing I probably would have liked is better explanation of the time travel thingie; then again, it's a short story so for that it did pretty well. Besides, it turned out to be lies anyway.

I don't read a lot of science fiction and I don't tend to read a lot of short stories, so this was a bit of a new concept for me. It's hard to talk about it without being spoilery since it's so short, but I will say that it was kind of dark but really interesting. I liked it a lot and will probably be getting the whole collection.
