This book was very predictable and I liked it in the beginning....but it kept getting worse.

I usually like Maya Banks, but this one didn't quite do it for me. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. I got kind of bored and skipped a good deal of the middle and headed straight for the 'big reveal' and fallout. I'm not going to rate, because my skimming was such that it wouldn't be fair.
The narrator was very monotone, so I'm sure that added to the problem. Also, I'm not a big fan of heroine in pursuit novels. Just not my cuppa. YMMV.
Re: the angst. Again the monotone narrator didn't exactly bring it. Plus, I was too distracted by the fact that the h's brother took Simon's side. He didn't even call to check on her. His whiny reason was that she'd probably ruined his friendship with Simon. WTH? Was he in love with Simon too? What kind of brother is that?
I know it's been done in MB novels before, but for some reason the group of guys constantly talking about their feelings together really bugged me this time.
Also, I never really got the heroine's reasoning. I guess Banks was trying to bring 'equality between the sexes', but her guilt over taking advantage of the poor, drunk hero by kissing him and then letting him take her virginity was just absurd to me.

OK I am not sure about the stars. I did like the book, enjoyed it. But the idea of Toni and Simon having sex while he was sooo drunk he did not remember afterwards and her being a virgin and all.... OK let's not dwell on this strange happening :-)
And it was hard to believe in their love if you take in account that Simon was going to ask another woman to marry him the night he had sex with Toni. But he caught her cheating, so...
OK moving on to the next book.

My God, this narrator was terrible. I kept thinking it was one of those automated text to speech bots because she legit read with no inflection. Bored me to tears.
The hero was dumbass.
