I thought this was a 3 star read for me but nope.

The start was a little bit off for me. I was kind of introduced with a new writing style that later on ass the book progressed reminds me of Rick Riordan's ( the humorous and kind of easy to read and understand) and Neil Gaiman's ( Norse God) writing style.

I wasn't hooked that early but that doesn't stop my interest on it as this will be my first ever ( I think) Sci-fi book that I'm so determined to finished and because I was a little bit surprised how I kind of was okay with it before going on the first hundred pages of the book where it all starts to became really interesting and enjoyable in my part up until the end which.

I also did get why some people called it a Six of Crows sci-fi version coz it feels like that to me as well as a person who have read Six of Crows. But Aurora Rising was kind of a lighter and more humorous than the Six of Crows squad, especially Finian which reminds me so much of Jesper with all his wits and sarcastic remarks, Scarlet with Nina but more likeable version not an annoying biatch if you asked me no offence and also Kal with Matthias and again, more likeable in my opinion. I am also fond with Tyler with all his leadership skills, Zila her brains and Aurora who is somehow has been doing well with her mental state despite what had happened to hear which I admires. Also how their bond became nothing but pure 'you leave me no choice but to choose you/ join you' remarks turns to a strong bond.

I also didn't feel Aurora and Kal's pairing but thought of Tyler and Aurora but the last 60 pages compensated it as it all made sense that just because some handsome-hot-brutish alien confess his romantic undying love to you it doesn't mean that you'll straight way succumb to his arms instead they have took it slow as given theirselves a possibility of chance of happening which I understand with all the things that were currently happening to them.

I just want to point out how I wasn't feeling Cat's existence in the book. She kinds of annoy me although I understand her sentiments with all her 'this is madness'. But I ended up liking her after the whole stealking artifacts part and still wasn't that affected with her death towards the end.

As much as I enjoyed this and the reason why I only gave this 4 star instead of 5 is because that the writing style at first was kind of off to me and I wasn't really into it at the first hundred pages. Still aching for the 2nd book so much

It was good in general, but it didn't really live up to the hype, at least for me. The ending wasn't as impactful as I expected, but I still enjoyed reading it. Plus the cover is really pretty lmfao.

4.5⭐️ only because the characters’ voices were all so similar I had to double check who was narrating in almost every chapter. Everything else was 5/5

i spent most of this book hating it tbh. the last 3 hours things actually got interesting. i loathe that all the “aliens” are bipedal and mostly human. the queerness is almost not present. but the end actually got me. bc they KILLED MY FAV. anyway. i didn’t expect to wanna read the next one but maybe i will

Derivative, but fun.
Sometimes the charactization lacked dimension and consistency, which was annoying. But overall enjoyable.

The plot was great, but I could barely handle the cringy dialogue sometimes. Also why did we have to bring that mating bond shit into this?
