I hate over-used sayings. 'living in your head rent-free', 'Are you OK?', when someone has clearly told you that they aren't and, when referring to books 'I couldn't put it down' but that is exactly how I felt with this book. 'I couldn't put it down', 'I had to finish it' and 'it was a page-turner'.

The first half obviously builds a back story but as with a lot of books this wasn't a slow-paced foreword; it trundled along at just the right pace for me and just like a rolling stone it got faster and faster and faster... until the end, which, for me left more questions than answers; why would you still be friendly with people who had stolen your baby? Why didn't you kill it once you knew it was the son of Satan? Why did you even bond with it after the fact? Why didn't you divorce your husband after everything he put you through?

I thought the ending would have been more of a BOOM! but actually it just fizzled out like a cheap firework and that is why I give this a four, as opposed to a five-star review. In saying that, though, it is an addictive read and I would recommend it but I just felt it a bit weak towards the end.
