Like many others, I recently saw the Wonder Woman movie in theaters and I immediately fell in love with the world. I fell in love with the characters, the story, the premise, and so much more. I became obsessed and found myself eager to read one of the many comics of the Wonder Woman franchise.

This is my first Wonder Woman comic, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I did enjoy the comic overall. I thought the drawings were well done and I loved the exploration of Diana (Wonder Woman) as a person with flaws and self doubt and all of the other awkward things we all go through but don't want to talk about because it isn't "cool." It was quick, fun, easy read and I thought it was a good introduction to the characters and world.

I thought this was great... read in one day and I Love Jodi Picoult... though this may spark a new interest in the next book in the series as I was left with a cliffhanger. I thought it was a wonderful change for Jodi

This took me forever to find! I almost gave up on my search - but I finally found it guys!

And after reading it, I'm kind of disappointed. I don't know, ever since I read [b:Wonder Woman: Warbringer|29749085|Wonder Woman Warbringer (DC Icons, #1)|Leigh Bardugo|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1478886078s/29749085.jpg|50105334] I feel like nothing can top that, ya know? But it could just be me. Plus, this is like my second ever graphic novel to read? The first being [b:Wires and Nerve, Volume 1|29772863|Wires and Nerve, Volume 1 (Wires and Nerves, #1)|Marissa Meyer|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1470414564s/29772863.jpg|49043263], which I loved every second of and I'm super pumped to read Volume 2!!

Maybe I didn't love it like I thought I would because Jodi Picoult kind of made Wonder Woman/Diana Prince like super dumb? How the fudge does she not know what a god damn credit card is? Hasn't she been on Earth for a while now? Hell, 3 year old's have cellphones now. I'm sure WW knows all about credit cards.

Then there's the whole romance thing that kind of made me want to barf and light this book on fire. Nemesis? REALLY? Le Sigh! I don't even want to talk about that horribleness.

I'm glad that I got this book off my TBR.
I'm sad that I read it because I didn't really like it.
WHY JODI WHY?! We had a good thing running and now.. idk.

It's been a while since I regularly read comics (before they were called graphic novels) so that may color my judgement. I found that the main theme was repeated every few pages until the reader is hit over the head with the fact that Wonder Woman is not sure what it means to be human or where her loyalties should lie.

Umm....so, probably the best thing about this particular graphic novel was the explanation by Jodi Picoult at the beginning. She said DC approached her to write a Wonder Woman graphic novel and she couldn't turn it down. And I get that. You don't turn down a chance to do WW!!
Was this story great?? Not really. It felt disconnected, like she was trying to cram in as much stuff as possible as well as continue a story line that she didn't write in the first place AND she wouldn't be continuing after. That sounds like an interesting experiment on DC's part but I don't know if it actually works. Not having extensive knowledge of WW's backstory/the canon/etc., I can't say much about what goes forward or even how this fits in (how do people become WW experts? Do you start at the beginning?? How much does THAT cost?).
So, would I recommend this? Sure. I picked it out because it was one of 2 WW graphic novels/comic collections at the public library and that's the only way I'm going to experience graphic novel/comic collections because I don't want to spend a bunch of money.

Jodi Picoult writes comics? Guess so. Here is a graphic novel about Wonder Woman. This is the second in the arc, which I didn't read the first of, but it does get you up to date at the beginning. Different authors write each installment. I've loved Wonder Woman since I was a toddler. I remember being a little girl, watching Diana and her truth rope, and running around in my underoos playing wonder woman. So, I really loved reading this. I'd like to try and find the other books in this arc to finish it. Very good! I read it in less than 24 hours. Oh, and the art was beautiful!

For whatever reason, my library doesn't own the first book in this series (I don't know what the technical term is -- this title? this run of Wonder Woman?) so I had to begin with Volume 2. Not sure if I'm missing much, but it was easy enough to start here.

I had extremely low expectations for Love and Murder, based on reviews plus Jodi Picoult, and I probably enjoyed it more than I normally would because I expected it to be so terrible that I'd have to toss it onto the DNF pile or something. It wasn't that bad! It was full of clichés (like a boring romantic subplot), it had a weird overdone fish-out-of-water thing to double-down on the whole "Wonder Woman is not human" concept, and I definitely preferred the version of Wonder Woman that I read in that last Batwoman TPB. I think it read more or less exactly how you'd think Jodi Picoult would write a Wonder Woman story.

That said, here are some good things! It was easy to follow the panels, I thought the art was great, and I liked Circe.

I don't care too much about the cliffhanger, which is good, since I'm not even going to touch Amazons Attack! -- between GR reviews and the fact that it doesn't seem to wrap up that storyline anyway -- and it doesn't look like it's addressed in the next collection. But it was okay.

I have never read a comic book before! A few years ago a took a young adult literature class and realized they are now mostly called graphic novels. I learned some interesting ways to use these types of literature in the classroom with older students. Since Wonder Woman is my favorite super hero I thought this comic would be fun to read. Also, I love the author, Jodi Picoult.

Since I have never read a graphic novel I do not have much to compare it with. I thought the story line was good and the ending made me want to read the next one. I enjoyed the artwork and thought the illustrations of Wonder Woman live up to her classic image. Over all it was a fun, quick read.
