I originally set out to read this to see why people are so intent on banning this book… and I can see why. It frustrates me to no end that people want to limit access to things they don’t understand. And I think if they could read this book with empathy, they could come to see why it’s so important for LGBTQ youth to have access to stories like Maia’s.
