there were a few essays i liked the most - they have hit me hard and will stay with me for longer. it was difficult to read about all the terrible things that had happened to Emily and then be able to google them to make sure they had actually happened, that it is not just fiction. every time i read about the modelling industry i can't hold my disguise for it - for the sexualization, for the violence, for all the caused harm.
glad to be able to read the Emily's story from her own perspective

This book has torn me. I had heard nothing but good things about it and had known very little about Emily Ratajkowski previously (it's true I swear) and was looking forward to a scathing account of the media and celebrity culture.

Instead what I found was a well written account of a naive young woman who was taken advantage of multiple times (both sexually and in business). What I couldn't move past was her lack of acknowledgement of her immense privilege and how other women in positions of vulnerability would be in a much worse position.

Very much should have read the trigger warnings before going in, but dang this is a raw, unrelenting look at the dark side of the modeling industry and the people she had to deal with along the way. This is on my list to reread in print, as the audiobook did make weird production choices that were jarring at times, but all in all read this, like now

4.3 but im giving 5 because I want to bust this book's rating

each essay left me either crying or fucking shocked but the "men like you" deserved a fucking pedestal of its own and that's all I'm gonna say
