3.5⭐️ I listened to this as an audiobook and sort of chose it begrudgingly, helped along by how short it was. Emily Ratajkowski is not someone I admire or put my attention towards yet I play into a lot of the derision and contempt she receives. I think she was really honest and lucid in this text as she contemplates ownership. She’s been through some really awful things and no one ever deserves that. I wonder who she would have become with another figure, though it’s hard not to continue to criticize the behavior and choices she makes despite condemning the framework she’s apart of. It’s hard to call it hypocritical when it’s a vehicle for women to lose, lose hard, and be foisted into it at an age where they couldn’t make better choices. It’s a little sad to see her continuing on the same path she seems made to be so lost and distressed by. Overall, really not badly done but hard to keep a balanced opinion throughout this book and extending past it.
I get the sense from this book that there is still a lot that Emily Ratajkowski has not processed.

I won this on a Goodreads giveaway. I didn't know what to expect, but I didn't think these essays would be so moving. One of the repeated themes in this book is all the times she has been dismissed as a beautiful model with little else to offer, and I have to begrudgingly admit that I approached the book with a similar attitude, but I was very wrong. She is really an exceptional writer, and I hope people pick this up.
