One of the hottest people on Earth tells me that sexual power is truly no power. An asset, maybe, but not power. Love
I was a bit more captivated by the first half of the book, but I still enjoyed it overall. This book doesn't dive as deep into issues as it *could*, but it is definitely accurate to say that this is an exploration of experiences that have influenced Ratajkowski's views. I connected a lot with her depictions of the relationship she has with her parents and the way she was introduced to the idea that beauty makes you special and makes you worthy of love at such a young age. She shares stories of sexual assault, and throughout the book, we see how her relationship with her body changes over the years. How her body and her beauty means being special, how her body is used as a tool, how she feels so uncomfortable being complimented for her appearances by those close to her, how she has grown to trust her body.
Personally, Em Rata is one of the most beautiful people I’ve seen and I liked her before this book. I feel like I know her more as an individual and on a personal level. I like her even more for this. It’s not mine or anyone else’s place to judge the telling of someone else’s experiences and what they felt at that time and even years later.
One woman’s experience regardless of looks or job or whatever shouldn’t minimize the traumatic experiences caused by men and women alike. Her being a model and comfortable in her nakedness doesn’t justify the behaviors of many.
This book was beautifully written. Emily has a talent in writing and storytelling and I would recommend this to women everywhere.

I know some people didn’t love this book because the author is still benefitting from the same system which she is critiquing. But some of the essays are so powerful and I admire her ability to be so vulnerable (she cries near the end of one essay in the audiobook version). I wanted to keep listening, and I finished over the course of two days, so for that I’m rating it highly. Although she’s benefiting financially to a great extent, she also writes about situations that many women can relate deeply to.
Emily Ratajkowski wrote this collection of very important and impactful essays very beautifully. It is definitely worth reading. I recommend the audiobook since Emily herself narrates it.
Not gonna lie, I don’t really know how to start writing this review. These essays were beautifully written and captivating. She discribes her issues with the modelling world and how it made her and other people look at her body. The pure abuse and mistreatment of models makes me sick, I’m glad Emily was able to write her story to take some of this control back and show that she is more than just a beautiful body.
I hope more people will read this book and learn some of the more hidden lessons from it. If she decides to write more books, I will definitely read it.
