(I received this book for free from a Goodreads giveaway.)

This beautiful little piece manages to be lyrical and poetic all the way through without ever getting pretentious or cheesy. Not having read the original Portuguese version, I can't speak to the translation effort, but I can only imagine how great the original must be when the English is this moving. The woodcut-style illustrations are as much a part of the work as the poems, in my opinion.

Will definitely be trying to find another one of Mr. Peixoto's translated works.
