Sheila has done it again.

The memory curse, to me is based around understanding how to grieve for the person everyone wants you to be and instead choosing yourself

So much happened in this book - we learned more about why Xander is the way here is, particular about the secrets he’s hidden - not just from the person he loves, but also the secrets he keeps from himself.

Cecilia fights with her own inner turmoil of now being put in a position to protect the kingdom, but also be the bargaining chip to secure the kingdoms peace. This is a heavy heavy role to take on (like many other powerful FMC before her!) She has to navigate her god powers, her connection to her human self, the love she has for Rainer but also for Xander (and trying to understand what aaaaall that means) - she has to learn about her god powered siblings and challenge Cato the only other living God who remains.

Rainer really shines through in this book, no longer torn between duty and what is believed to be right - he really does find himself. I’d say his growth in this book is great to see.

Xander. Xander. Xander. The turmoil that this man goes through on a regular basis, and the sacrifices he makes in order to protect the only woman he’s ever loved is astounding. Yes, he really does *mess up badly* but he holds himself accountable. I’m so excited to see where the next book takes his part of the story!
