Okay, the first G&S book is really something, and it ends PERFECTLY. To have sequels is just wrong, but I own them for the beautiful art. Curse you, Nick Bantock.
My very thoughtful friend gave me this book as a gift and it was such an absolute delight! It was original, quirky, and intriguing. When I turned the page and found that I would be pulling out an actual letter to read I nearly lost it with excitement. The illustrations throughout the book are fascinating and I love the life that Sabine leads. I finished the book and promptly put a hold on the following four books from the library!
This book made me so happy. It is so beautiful and the physicality of it makes you feel special.

This is so unique! I loved being able to open the letters and look at the artwork. Requesting the next two books from the library ASAP.
2016: The surreal art only emphasizes the artistic struggles contained within. Sometimes, when creativity is stunted, that's when an artist's brain gets the most creative, but in the darkest or most devastating ways possible.
A friend introduced me to this mystical correspondence disguised as a novel and I was immediately hooked. The story is wonderful along with the art and interactive pieces. It takes very little time to read, but I always want to linger over each page to study the details.
I’m rating this on pure enjoyment. My best friend this to me which makes it that much more magical. The artwork is beautiful, combined with the postcards/letters, it speaks volumes. I want to know more.
A wonderful concept, great execution, and poor plot decision. The entire story is told through post cards, art work, and letters. Every detail conveys a new feeling, plot point, and setting. The only downfall is the plot. It was ridiculous and poorly done. For such a complex idea, the author did not give adequate character and plot development to make it engaging.
