This is another excellent read aloud, especially when paired with the short film.

I am so glad this was my daughter’s August Imagination Library book!

This was such a cute book, and my toddler was entranced while I read it. I love reading my daughter books about kids that don’t look like her. It’s so important for children to see people of different races, cultures, backgrounds, etc.

This book has beautiful illustrations with short, easy sentences to keep young kid’s attention. It also, teaches kids to love themselves. Such a. Important message.

Very cute story. Shows a loving relationship between a Black father and his daughter. The illustration is also modern so the book will appeal to younger families. Beautiful story that celebrates the beauty of natural Black hair.

This story was so lovely and also give us adorable moments between a dad and his daughter. We need more representation of those dads taking care of their daughters, because it's not the sole purpose of the mothers (in heterosexual relationships). "My hair is Mommy, Daddy, and me. It's hair love!"
As a white woman I loved to learn more about the struggle that it can be to comb black hair, and the work involved to make it right. Also always love to see cats in stories, being their best companion for the heroes. Beautiful illustrations by Vashti Harrison.
