Thank you William Morrow for the free ARC. What books get you through rough seasons? I always enjoy mystery novels, and I’ve really come to love Karen Odden’s novels set in Victorian-era London. Her novels feel so authentic, and I love her artistically driven female protagonists. Annabelle, her latest, is a dedicated painter who must unravel the story behind her brother’s murder, finding an answer at the intersections of art, politics, and childhood trauma. I also love that there is always an undercurrent or romance, but it doesn’t play center stage - just enough to give the plot some tension!
