I found this book to be incredibly informative on a culture that I wasn't fully versed in. While it may have been written for someone more involved in the scene than myself, I still found myself gathering important knowledge, and as Kinsey stresses, knowledge is power. If you're even remotely interested in entering the BDSM scene, I'd recommend you read this book. It shouldn't be the only source of information you use, but it's definitely one of the good ones.

If you're new to BDSM/kink (or are just ready to fully dive in headfirst), this is the book for you. I have a better-informed grasp on the workings of D/s relationships, kink, etc. as well as how to safely practice, what to look out for, how to get into the community, and more. I wish this kind of sex ed was mainstream, but maybe one day!
TW: as this is BDSM, there will be many discussions on impact play and other related physical sexual content, but in addition to that there is a cautionary tale in the last chapter with some details of a murder that could potentially be upsetting for the reader. Hence, I added some heavier TW/CW warnings in the moderate section - however, the rest of the book does not have this tone.
