Sanderson builds so many layers of mystery and pays them off so well that when reading you always feel a strong sense of momentum. It’s what helped me finish this book in a month when the first novel took ages for me to get to “the good parts”. Looking forward to the third book, but can only hope my boy Sazed can recover from everything that happened to him toward the end of this book

This installment was definitely slower and not as much excitement in the beginning/middle but it still packed a punch for me. I did have a moment with the reveal that I gasped and couldn’t look at my kindle. I think the downside was Vin being young and repeating many times that she wasn’t good enough for Elend. I think this could have had the same weight but not repeated as much. I enjoyed a lot of this book though and thank the heavens that some of my favorite characters made it through another book.

The book was slower-paced than the first and there were parts where I had to push myself through. But when it reached the end, I realised how important all the build-ups were...
Brandon Sanderson took his time to piece together the necessary conflicts, the friendships, the betrayals, the heart wrenching emotions, the hope for success, THE GLIMPSE OF SUCCESS, and then... you know what.
Once again, reading a Brandon Sanderson book, I was surprised and lost for words when it all came crashing down.

A compelling read, offering more exposition to the story. I really like the way each chapter begins with a short exposition from the 'prophecy', or whatever that is. It makes for a really cool puzzle, as I try to understand it at the same time the characters do the same. The end was a bit of a let-down, though. I can see how that was a logical conclusion, but I felt a little disappointed at that.

If you've read the first book, then this is a must read, because it explains so much, and offers a new angle to the story.
