Interesting and enjoyable, although a bit weird at times.

Palahniuk's vision of Hell is more gross and disgusting than terrifying. I imagine he consulted a lot of 12 year boys for tips on creating the truly gross imagery. Only a boy could come up with 'The Ocean of Wasted Sperm' or 'The Swamp of Completed Abortions'. Yuck.

I liked Madison as the protagonist. I remember being a 13 year old girl which was it's own special kind of hell, so I feel Madison is especially suited to the task of guiding the reader through Hell. I particularly enjoyed how each chapter opens with "Are you there Satan? It's me Madison."

Ends with a 'To Be Continued'... does this mean sequel? I'd definitely check it out.

Are you there Satan it’s me, Madison?
I honestly expected more from Chuck. I thought his interpretation of Hell would be amazing. The vision he gives us of Hell is acceptable and believable. The story itself however was a let down. It wasn’t clever or witty like most of his stories. It wasn’t compelling and it didn’t draw me in. I just didn’t care about the characters or their circumstances. I’m hesitant to continue the series.

A pedophilic shock-filled absurdist fantasy rife with body shaming, objectification, and misogyny.
