This is the 7th and last book in the Men of Fairlake series and I am so sad to see it end, but what a great way to go. I have loved every book in this series but this one was really fun. I liked how accepting Luke was about his feelings and sexuality changing and how he stood by through all that Felix goes through.

My Chaos, His Calm is the last installment in the truly wonderful Men Of Fairlake series. I have read and enjoyed every single one of the books in the series and Felix and Lukas' story raises the series even more and ends it on a fantastic note.
Both Felix and Lukas are introduced in [b:Cake & Comfort|178124709|Cake & Comfort (Men of Fairlake)|Romeo Alexander|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1693880585l/178124709._SY75_.jpg|183804168]. Felix is Grant's older brother, while Lukas is Sylas' personal assistant and best friend.
There are MAJOR spoilers to Felix's backstory in Cake & Comfort and it is an absolute necessity that you read that book before reading My Chaos, His Calm. If you don't you will lose a lot of the emotional growth that Felix shows in his book, and you will also not fully understand the absolute horrors that he grew up with and had to endure.
I thought I couldn't love a Fairlake man more than Grant - his dry sense of humor, his interactions with Sylas and the way he opened his heart to him.
But Felix, sweet, snarky Felix stole my heart from Grant. Yes, Felix has made some questionable decisions in his life, yes, he most definitely lacks impulse control and struggles with doing the things he knows he should be doing to improve his life. But he is coping the best way he knows how and the best way that he can.
I really don't want to include spoilers, but I will say knowing what Felix had to endure and the lack of understanding and support he had from the adults in his life and those who had power over him I don't think he could have reacted or lived any other way. (Yes, I know the guy's fictional, but when you read the book you'll see - he's as real as me and you.)
I loved the fact that throughout the book you can see just how hard Felix is working on his relationships with himself, his brother Grant and his new friend Lukas. He is building the life and relationships he wants and deserves.
And this new best friend (who is most definitely NOT gay, or maybe he is....) Lukas? He was a wonderful mixture of labrador, cinnamon roll energy with the steadfastness and calm in the eye of the storm that Felix needs. The way that Lukas works through his bisexual awakening was so spot on to who he is - he takes his time to work through things calmly and when he's made his decision, he is 100% all in.
Just as in Cake & Comfort this book focuses almost solely on Felix and Lukas and their growing relationship and it work just as well here. Other characters make brief cameos: Adam's being a catalyst for Lukas' feelings towards Felix and Grant's conversations with Felix shows how both men grow and change during their relationships with Sylas and Lukas.
Felix also has a wonderful sense of humor and the way that he and Lukas teased each other and used banter to get to know each other and fall in love was so fun to read. And I laughed out loud quite a few times.
My Chaos, His Calm is one of the best books I've read this year, and most definitely one of my favourite books I've read. I could not recommend it more highly.
TW/CW: the book contains mention and descriptions of past child abuse and serious mental health issues, including PTSD

This book was a compelling story, with a perfectly crafted bi-awakening from one MC and a complex childhood from the other MC. Felix is a fascinating man, charismatic and a bit bratty despite his upbringing. I could see why Luke was so smitten by him. Luke was less fleshed out as a character, but it was okay like that, Felix is the star of the story. The romance was well crafted, and while I don't enjoy a third-act break-up, the author decided on an original conflict, which I appreciated. I will probably read other books from the same author in the future.
