This definitely wasn't my favorite read recently, but at the end, I ended up loving it. There were times in the book where I seriously hated it. The main character was annoying naive at times, but she grew so much. It's an interesting concept, and there's a lot of pain in this book, but the story ended up being definitely worth the read.

We are meant to repent on our knees and receive salvation ecstatically and somberly on our tongues.

This virus that takes us over and turns us into the most base and vile versions of ourselves. Could Eve have been sick in the Garden? Is desire and illness in itself? Or is God turning our sin against us, sweeping His almighty wrath across the land in these winds?

The Last of Us, but make the zombies into sex rather than brains, and make it campier

Sophie is a very devout Catholic 17year old from the Midwest and she is stuck right in the middle of the apocalypse. This book was awesome! A million stars

I loved this book! It was definitely a hard read. A lot of gore and sexual violence (it’s in the description but just in case you needed a warning, there are some serious scenes where an infected person sexually assaults another person. This book is about who will be with us at the end of the world and who is going to make it through. I find the juxtaposition of a late bloomer being the center of a story about a growing disease pandemic that makes people sexually violent and to see her witnessing this while figuring out her own body and sexuality is so fascinating. I wish that Sophie would have gotten a chance to kiss Helen because it would have made it easier for her to understand her body in relation to others.

Also I love Barghest. Even though he is a scary dog he is literally the best boy! Just awesome!!

One thing I despise is the backrooms ass clown museum in the House on the rock. Too creepy!!! I also don’t like the idea of a carpet in any dark colors because it is too old fashioned and gives me flashbacks to really weird night in my early 20s
