I was in a reading slump and couldn’t get into it at the moment. Will try to read it again at another time.

Thoroughly enjoyed; good amount of twists and turns and sets itself up nicely for book 2.

Listened to this with the kids. The story - with a lion main character and baboons in the secondary role - is a good series read for anyone who likes other Erin Hunter books (Warriors, Seekers) or Spirit Animals. Characters are realistic (well, I mean, they are anthropomorphized animals, but other than that...) and the twists and turns are interesting. I was frustrated that the novel did not really come to an end - read the next book, kids! - but my children tell me that this is how these series work, and they were unconcerned. Now to find the next one...

I wasn't a huge fan...i like bamboo kingdom more. But I still like it. I will read it again and see if I will like it now.

To be honest, I just wasn't engaged enough, but I think my younger self would have been enthralled. While this book does remind me heavily of The Lion King, it stands enough on its own. The characters seemed interesting, but I don't think I will be sticking around.

This was an amazing story, and even though it was in Dutch (which makes me cringe at about every word), I'm really curious about the next book.

I love the way Erin writes books. The way she tells the story from the animal’s perspective is really interesting and really hard to do. She does it so well though.

This book was just great from the start. I was not expecting it to be that great but the book is one of suspense and excitement till the very end.
