DNF at 30%. I really tried. I hate having to DNF anything, especially a book club read. I listened to the Spotify version, which condensed 40ish chapters into 11 chapters that were each over an hour long. Because of this, avoiding triggering scenes got really difficult. I was hitting the 15 second skip button so many times, that I realized that I wasn’t even reading anymore. The story was interesting enough for me to look up a detailed synopsis. Doing so did confirm for me that I just wouldn’t be able to get through the whole thing. I just can’t handle graphic horror to that level. I had never read Stephen King before, so I wasn’t exactly sure what I was getting into. I also found his writing to be annoyingly tangential at times, but I don’t want to judge too much as someone who didn’t even get halfway through.
Also, Stephen King owes me financial compensation for every time he wrote “squirt” and/or “shoot his squirt.” He owes me a lot of money.

I feel like child rape/abuse is a common topic that appears too frequently in his novels.
