Lorian freaking Aristedes !!

This series continues to both break my heart and yet also give me hope. I feel so much for Hadrian. 😂😭

Truth be told this might have been my least favorite book so far, mostly because there were a lot of new characters that I don’t yet feel quite as connected to. Additionally, I do take issue with a decision Valka came to (seemingly) in the middle of the absolute HORRORS of a Cielcin battle that felt rather… out of character for her. It did come up (somewhat briefly) prior to this that she’s been reconsidering things, so I’m not going to let it affect my rating… but I do think it was a strange time to make that kind of a decision. Anyway… despite these nitpicks, this was still a great, engaging read.

I loved this, and I’ll be jumping into book six immediately because this series has completely taken over my life 😂

It’s really hard to review any book in this series. The sheer scope of events covered in this book is staggering. Hadrian is steadily becoming one of my favourite characters I’ve ever read!

This ranks just below Howling Dark which was my favorite in the series. I love all the lore we got about Ceasar and the previous God King. The ending had my mouth to the floor. I hope we get a Hadrian training arc with the Knights of Jadd in the next book. My only real complaint was how telegraphed
Volkas
death was. It got to the point where I would have been surprised if
she
didn't die.

Another excellent addition to the series. Heart broken a little- and now I have to wait for the next book.
