I get that finding out you're pregnant when you weren't planning to is hard. I even get the hockey player without good parent role models being worried. However, being with someone in a good family for a decade should help, having millions in the bank should also help, having a friend/team counselor that used to counsel young pregnant teens should help too. But, it doesn't. We endure a whole book dedicated to the neurotic Joey, a self proclaimed Barbie that is admittedly spoiled and "poor me". We also catch glimpses of this bizarre attraction between two teammates and it's even more strange how little resolution we get. Same with the father/son dynamic, that never really felt complete or anything.

This was probably a better book than I'm giving credit. Butler improved over the first book in the series by at least labeling the time jumps by labeling each chapter. There just wasn't enough depth for me in this book. It felt like it was a bridge between something and I'm not sure what. I was left pretty empty and feel like there are all of these dangling threads, but I'm not exactly disappointed because in 2 books now, I have yet to develop much of an affinity for any of these characters. If you did in Book 1, you will probably enjoy this book though.
