I liked the movie first and I enjoyed reading the book. It’s precisely what I expected it be. Wish it was not transphobic in parts. Also at times it’s pretty silly, but for the most part I could let the logic of the story carry me away.

I'd give this book a 4.75/5
This book was absolutely incredible - it was even better than I expected it to be, which is saying something when this is one of the best-selling books of all time. The plot was action-packed and engaging but wasn't overwhelming in the amount of action/information thrown at you. The short chapters all seemed to end in some kind cliffhanger so I was 100% locked in and never felt bored or like the plot was slowing down too much. The historical references and explanations of symbology in art/religious texts/etc. was absolutely fascinating and opened up a whole new perspective on religion as an institution.
MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD:
Taking off .25 stars only for the wholly unnecessary romance subplot. It almost felt like Dan Brown was trying to turn Sophie into a glorified Bond girl who automatically ends up with the MMC just from proximity throughout the book (which, from reading descriptions of the other Robert Langdon mysteries, appears to be a theme). In reality, Sophie was the instigator of pretty much the entire story and was instrumental in solving the mystery because of her personal background and career knowledge. Because the romance subplot as a whole took up maybe a single page out of 600, I'm not docking a full star, but it felt so incredibly out of place in the story.

La trama daba para mucho pero el final fue el amague más grande que me comí en mi vida.
