another one which i could sum up as "i understand why people like and do not like this book".
it was a nice read - i almost read it in two days but due to some obstacles it looks like it took ma ages to finish which is not a case lol. the language was unexpectedly easy (or is it me who improved her skills?) and the pace was just right imo. i liked langdon & sophie duo and i might read angels & demons (?) soon.
i see why people criticize the da vinci code - it does look ridiculous at times and might be bullshit but i had fun so four stars it is.

Dan Brown is one of the most mediocre authors to be stuck in the New York Bestseller's list for months at a time. Anytime his characters are sitting down and talking, the book is really interesting. When they're running around getting caught up in "action," it's boring and by the numbers. I really wish that there had been something special about the book...but there wasn't. But, it managed to get people talking, so I guess that's good.

4.5 |||||||||||||||||| El código Da Vinci es un libro fascinante. Cada capítulo termina de manera sorprendente y los detalles son arrastrados meticulosamente a lo largo de la historia. Tanto Robert como Sophie me han parecido un par de personajes principales maravillosos, y compañeros de “¿crimen?” geniales. Todos los demás personajes, y sus respectivos capítulos, aunque al principio no me interesaban tanto, consiguieron entrelazarse a la perfección con los protagonistas y contribuir a la impactante evolución de todo.
La historia en sí es intrigante y bien tallada y compleja y misteriosa. Las resoluciones a los pequeños acertijos, la descripción maestra de los sitios y monumentos, el tejido de pistas, notas, poemas, leyendas, datos... wow, muy, muy, wow.
Me frustró bastante, durante la primera mitad del libro, lo de: “Y entonces... el Sangreal, el secreto mejor guardado del Priorato de Sión... uuUuUUuuu... mejor no, todavía no te lo cuento, Sophie. Pronto lo sabrás”. Sí, entiendo que el punto de esta demora debe de ser construir y aumentar el suspense y el interés... PERO JESUCRISTO, fueron más capítulos de los necesarios en los cuales Robert CASI, pero aún no, le narraba a Sophie el grandísimo misterio.
Dejando eso a un lado, el libro es magnífico. Personajes, como Silas, que al principio odiaba, se desarrollaron de manera tan orgánica que al final crecieron en mí. Y la revelación del Maestro me dejó un tanto confundida, hasta decepcionada, pero al ser explicada por completo, quedé complacida.
Para terminar, y en mi opinión, lo mejor del libro fue el final, los capítulos finales, las capturas, los descubrimientos, la resolución. Un final pulcro, limpio, delineado con esmero, digno de aplausos. Especialmente por Sophie. Y el epílogo... DIOS. EXQUISITO.

This book is probably going to be my favorite of the Robert Langdon series, as it is set in Paris and is chock full of art and art history (as opposed to Angels & Demons, which has so much science). I do like these characters, but not as much as those in the previous book. The mystery in this book wasn't as thrilling for me either, but that's probably because this was a re-read, and I've seen the movie a couple times. As I neared the end of the book, I started to feel like the story was dragging on and I remember feeling that way about Angels & Demons too. These books may just take a bit too long to wrap up for my tastes. Overall, it's an alright book; the setting and artistic details are what save it for me.
