O Zafón tem o dom de fazer livros que se lêem num instante... Este só não o li num dia porque andei a passear!
No entanto, a história é muito semelhante aos livros da Trilogia da Neblina e tem elementos que são demasiado óbvios e não trazem nenhuma surpresa.
Voltarei a ler o autor mas penso que vou deixar passar mais um tempo... Passei algum tempo do livro a pensar que já tinha lido algo semelhante no Palácio da Meia-Noite (algo que foi bastante marcado no final do livro). Talvez sinta isto porque li a Trilogia da Neblina há pouco tempo...
Em resumo, gostei mas não adorei.
No entanto, a história é muito semelhante aos livros da Trilogia da Neblina e tem elementos que são demasiado óbvios e não trazem nenhuma surpresa.

got this book from the library after seeing this is the same author as the shadow of the wind, another one on my tbr, and to be honest i had mixed feelings about this one in particular.
the characters were fine, i didn’t connect to them fully until the 3/3 part of the book. in the middle we kinda got haphazardly introduced to more characters, but by the end marina and oscar grew on me. i don’t think i have a favourite character though.
the writing style was okay, but it was one of the issues for me in this book. in the middle it was really dragging. i didn’t feel that need to pick up this book, so it did tell me a lot about my enjoyment.
the plot was interesting in some parts but then i couldn’t imagine in my head what was happening when the plot did finally hit. however, i really loved the ending and it made me sad, so i bumped my rating to 3. something about this book just bored me and didn’t really work for me up until that ending... i thought the idea itself was cool, but the execution of it was unbelievable and hard to imagine. glad i read this still!

Jak mám ohodnotit knihu, u které nevím, co si o ní mám myslet? Na jednu stranu se mi líbila, na druhou stranu tam bylo spoustu věcí, které mi neseděly a celkově to byl dost zvláštní příběh. Z knihy mám rozporuplné pocity a nedokážu určit, jestli převažují ty kladné nebo záporné. Vůbec jsem nevěděla, co od knížky očekávat, ale lákala mě svou tajemnou obálkou a anotací. Musím pochválit autorův styl, protože píše opravdu poutavě a dokáže nastínit tu správnou atmosféru. Kniha se četla tak nějak lechce... Asi ani nemá cenu naznačovat, o čem je hlavní zápletka, to si prostě musíte přečíst sami. A potom je tu vztah Oskara a Mariny, kterým celý příběh začíná i končí. Když přemýšlím o hodnocení, ty 4 hvězdičky se hodí nejvíc. Pro mě kniha nebyla perfektní, ale rozhodně nebyla průměrná. Ne každá knížka donutí čtenáře přemýšlet. Mám po ní takovou docela nostalgickou náladu. Je to prostě hodně zvláštní knížka...
