I learned a lot from this book. Many flashbulbs went off in my head, especially matters relating to the Garden of Eden and Romeo & Juliet!
Miller presented challenging insight that catalyze cultural assessment and affection for Christ. This book made me look deeper into church culture and “the lifeboat theory.” Good read.
Interesting thoughts. I enjoy Donald Miller's candor when discussing Jesus and the Christian faith.
Sequel to "Blue Like Jazz" that just didn't seem to have the heart and organic joy of its predecessor. (7)
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to look at the Gospel in a new light.
This one didn't thrill me as much as Blue... but had some good stories in it. He's vulnerable, I'll give him that.
I enjoy Donald Miller. He is a wonderful story teller and I appreciate his opinions and insights. Blue Like Jazz, Scary Close and A Million Miles in a Thousand Years were all great reads. I can’t say the same for this book. Other than the occasional entertaining story or nugget of wisdom this one seemed to drag on without any clear direction. It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t great.
I love Donald Miller's way of just laying it out there and explaining God in new ways. He ended the book comparing God's love and our relationship with him to Romeo & Juliet, which totally resonated with me. We read this in our Bible Study and chatted about each chapter. This was a great way to process some of the information Miller presented and be able to debate and chat about the his thoughts on God and his experiences.

A book about how many of worldly troubles come from the relational strain between God and Man that occurred in the Garden of Eden, how Jesus came to mend the tear between us, and what that means for right now. Would highly recommend.
The author knows what's up and has really valuable things to say but it's hard to get past his way of writing. It feels as though he is a bit simple, or perhaps condescending. Still, his ideas need to be heard.
