In the beginning of Maximum Ride, volume 2 the flock escape capture and they do it by using their wits and of course wings. I love it when the adult bad guys get outsmarted by a couple of teenagers; it’s a trope that never gets old. And so they are off to New York City trusting information that Angel “heard” about a place that might have information on where the flock can find their parents. Unfortunately for the flock New York City is a pretty big place and Angel didn’t exactly get an address and it isn’t long after blind searching that the flock end up sleeping in underground tunnels with little to no money left. But I forgot to mention something, Max has been getting headaches, not only that but she’s been hearing a voice in her head, and someone (perhaps the voice) is leaving her clues through various video monitors on how to find the institute her and the group are looking for. Does this all seem suspicious? Max certainly thinks so, but the voice gave her a credit card and she’s certainly not above getting food and a total makeover.

It’s probably the most pointless part of the book but I have to admit it’s probably my favourite. When it comes to manga you don't really see much detail given to what a character wears, they usually wear the same thing over and over or similar variations so when it came to this scene where all the characters got a makeover I loved how everyone's unique style was revealed giving a deeper insight into their personality. Of course why Iggy, a blind guy, was given glasses I have no idea. It was also nice to see the flock catch a break after all the crap the Erasers and scientists from the School put them through even if it is a short lived one because it's not long until the flock make a discovery that reveals more of the School's secrets and Max ends up doing something that could haunt her for the rest of her life.

In this second instalment of Maximum Ride more answers leads to more unanswered questions and more strange coincidences then I care for but it's definitely entertaining and had me quickly moving onto the next book.

An interesting continuation to this series. Max is hearing voices in her head and there powers are evolving. They find out about their parentage and continue to look for answers.
