This book had me yelling at the pages, wishing I could reach in and shake the characters awake. Lisa Jewell doesn’t just tell a story; she creates a world that feels disturbingly real. You can tell she’s done her research because every situation hits with a sense of truth that makes it even more unsettling. What got me was watching smart, capable people fall into traps they didn’t even see coming… and realizing just how easily it could happen to any of us.
The tension builds in such a subtle, creeping way that you don’t even notice how tightly wound you are until it’s too late to put the book down. And the narration? Top-notch. Each voice brought the characters to life so vividly.
If you're looking for a thriller that’s both gripping and grounded in emotional realism, I can't recommend this one enough.
