This is the fastest I’ve slammed the “return loan” button on Libby. Life’s too short for an audiobook that I’m not jiving with.
I’m so confused by the multiple timelines and POVs. The narrators on the audio all sound too similar to each other. I’m also grappling with what is supposed to be thrilling and mysterious about a narcissistic asshole? Maybe I should have given it more time but it’s just not for me at this point in time.

💭My thoughts:
A hustler conning multiple women is someone who definitely deserves to pay, and in this story, we meet one I wanted to punch more than once while reading 😂. It was both entertaining and infuriating (why are some women so trusting?!). I’ve heard of things like this happening in real life, so it didn’t feel too far fetched, though hopefully, it’s not a common occurrence.
Some people are just narcissistic manipulators who know exactly how to target vulnerable people, and unfortunately, they often get away with it far too easily. That’s part of what made the story so gripping, the constant tension of wondering when or if he’d be exposed.
I really liked the short chapters, which made it easy to fly through the book, and the way the different storylines came together was really well done. It kept me turning the pages to see how everything would connect. “Nick” was so thoroughly unlikeable!Jewell did an excellent job making him feel real in the worst way. Overall, this was a fun, quick read, perfect if you’re in the mood for something twisty, and bingeable.
