Really 3 3/4 stars. I loved the character and the story was a great adventure although I must admit I love this kinda crap!

 Fast pace political thriller

I started the new series I borrowed through KU and an audible audiobook—a fast pace with two intertwining storylines.
I got confused about who the bad guys were and who Reznick could trust. I liked that the FBI in command is a strong woman who knows how to manage a group of men.
I have to give it 3.5 stars. The plot's premise is exciting, and I want to continue with the series after I read other books on my enormous TBR.

This is not my usual genre. It was ok, but not a stand out.

More like 4 1/2. Not crazy about the kidnapping of the kid or the bio-terrorism angle but overall the story was well done. Good characters and a good plot despite my biases. I'l read more of them.

When he's not signing with the Goo Goo Dolls, Jon Reznick is a shadowy government assassin. (Apologies if you don't get that one.) He carries out off-the-books hits assigned to him by his handler, and he's one of the best in the world. (Or there wouldn't be books about him!)

When a job turns out to be nothing like he expected, Reznick ends up on the run, trying to save his daughter and the country simultaneously. He has a friend in the government - deputy FBI director Martha Meyerstein - if they can bring themselves to trust each other.

It can be a little formulaic at times, but I really enjoyed this book. Reznick is an actual character with good development. I liked Meyerstein a lot. Since this is book 1, I'll definitely add #2 to my wish list.

Notes:

Generic black ops story. It is on Kindle Unlimited Read & Listen. I need to get my Audible fixed so I can go back to my Audiobooks To Read List.
