This was cute for the first 2/3, but then it lost me. Things started happening and people were getting away with things that I just couldn’t accept would actually be able to happen in this world. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the magic though.

This isn't a serious book. This book is a fluffy, cutesy candy coated piece of nonsense and I can't name one single thing I didn't like about it. 5 stars

I picked up The Herbwitch's Apprentice on Kindle Unlimited knowing nothing about it, and I'm so glad I did! This book scratched my itch for more cozy fantasy in the style of The House Witch.

It's set in a charming regency setting in the fictional kingdom of Olderea, where witches have been banished by the royal family for 2 generations. Our main character Amarante starts to discover her new powers and needs to make a tough choice - fit in with her fellow debutantes and forget about her mother's legacy, or stand up for witches everywhere and solve a mystery or two while she's at it.

I'll let you find out the details for yourself, just know that the story is light, flows easily and is absolutely hilarious. There's also a sweet, slow burn romance that I really enjoyed. Funnily enough I also found a few similarities to a certain boy wizard series - easter eggs or coincidences, I don't know.

Now I'm invested in this series and need to get to the sequel as soon as I finish some of the books I have in progress. I can't wait to return to this universe!

Omg this is perfection!

I loved it

it’s adorable and so cute!

Charming, sweet, and playful; The Herbwitch’s Apprentice was the sort of fun, lighthearted fantasy you remember fondly from your childhood.

It had the perfect amount of charm and wit; the main character Amarante is spunky and sassy in a modern Disney Princess sort of way. I laughed out loud, squealed with joy, and even furiously flipped to previous pages to reread sections.

The illustrations add to the charm tenfold. As an artist myself, I was so delighted to read a fantasy filled with drawings, drop caps, and ornamentation like you would have when you were younger. (I know this isn’t the illustrated edition but GET THE ILLUSTRATED EDITION FOLKS!!!)

Describing this as a Barbie movie is 100% spot on. If you were as obsessed with the Princess and the Pauper and Barbie Swan Lake as I was, this is the book you’ve been waiting for.

Absolutely charming read!! Love the illustrations and the characters, my only marks off are because it got into some very dark themes but written in a light hearted way? Threw me for a loop but overall I really enjoyed this story.
