It's probably my own fault for not doing my research before reading. I did not realize there was a previous book which had the narrative I was looking for. This book contains innocuous info that no one needs to read. I did not need to read that Jaycee "loves caramel macchiatos and is now a Starbucks addict" or that she has tried zumba classes and loves horses, blah blah blah. If you want a bunch of dull, meaniness information; this may be the book for you.
I think this is an incredible story of strength and perseverance. Hearing the details of Jaycee's time that she was held captive was upsetting but she is an amazing human being!

It’s horrible what had happened to her for all those years, but this second book of hers tells her story of after she was rescued and how she is living her life to the fullest with her daughters and her family. I am in awe at her positive attitude and outlook on life and all she has been able to do. She seems like such a lovely and sweet person. I am so happy her and her daughters are free and in her words thriving!!
I hate to say anything bad but this book was pretty dull.

This is a sweet one. I did like it but it felt kind of confused. The timeline didn't make a ton of sense and I had a hard time organizing the events. I wanted to love it and I still sometimes think about it but there's just something missing.

After reading about the tragedy in her first book it was a breath of fresh air to read about all the good that has happened to Jaycee since she’s been rescued. The writing has also drastically improved and I was happy to just hear her stories even though it jumped around from time to time. I think my favorite was her story of her first speeding ticket and all the times with her cats. I’m happy to know she’s thriving and just living her best life now after just a terrible beginning.
I feel bad that I didn't enjoy this book, especially because I thought her first memoir was so wonderful, but I really didn't at all. It was a series of random vignettes that meandered around many unrelated topics and read much like a school kid's 'what I did over the summer' essay. It only took two sittings to read, but there were weeks in between the two because I just didn't want to pick it up again. It didn't seem like there was anything to get out of this, although I'm quite glad to hear she's doing well. I feel like a pretty awful person for enjoying her book about her kidnapping and not the book about her adjusting to life, but it's how I felt.
I still recommend reading A Stolen Life because that was powerful, but this just seemed unnecessary.
