Fun!
Especially fun since I played God of War recently and already had some background info into Norse myths from that game. It was fun to see how things were different...
Loki is clearly the most fun character, though his eventual fate seemed way too harsh for the mostly harmless pranks he pulled... well, ok, he caused Baulder's death, but it's not his fault that the gods were tempting fate by trying to kill the guy.
Actually, Loki was quite honourable most of the time. I mean, he'd promise people things in order to get out of sticky situations, but then he'd actually follow through on those promises even though he could have just....not. Eg when the eagle released him in exchange for the immortality fruit. Once he was released, he didn't have to actually give the fruit over.
Honestly, this book was a lot of fun. An interesting and engaging collection of cool stories from Norse Mythology.
The first Neil Gaiman book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I really enjoy Norse Mythology in general, and thought Gaiman did a great job pulling a cohesive and colorful story out of the hodge podge of source material he had to work with. For those who don't know, these stories partly inspired the feel and texture of Tolkiens middle earth (although they are nowhere near as significant as his work). I did this one on audio, which I highly recommend as Gaiman reads it himself, and is really excellent.

Jan 2025 - Adding a note to say that after all the news that has come out about Gaiman, I am getting rid of the couple of Gaiman books that I own. All I can say is, I'm glad I was never a fan as such. I am keeping all my reviews here for posterity.
I don't generally go for short stories, but this is a good, fun introduction to the Norse gods, and the audiobook is well worth it (could listen to Neil Gaiman all day!). I knew nothing about the Norse gods other than through the MCU, so the stories were all new to me, I enjoyed a few more than others (my favourite being the wedding one!). Thor was my favourite character, made me laugh a lot, especially in relation to Loki!
