i stopped reading about the time i found out about the sexual abuse accusations against the author, and the audiobook was returned to the library around the same time and i couldn’t get it back for a while.
the book and stories themselves are great. it’s too bad the author sucks as a person.

Amazing storytelling.
The book was written like a simple collection of short stories surrounding the Norse Mythology, the gods, the events ending with Ragnarok. Intriguing and damn fun to read, the only thing that made it all the more fun, from time-to-time, was imagining as if Thor, Loki, and Odin were their counterparts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Often, such retellings end up to be quite dry. I have gone through some podcasts of history or mythology of some other cultures, none that managed to grip me. Gaiman gave us vaguely connected stories, which could be light-hearted but equally dark by the end of it, and I couldn't put the book down.
I do wish the stories had more parallels to how these myths had survived so far, and what their surviving interpretations were in our day-to-day lives. I might go through this again, but maybe, its audiobook might be more compelling.

Quite possibly the best retelling of The Prose Edda - very accurate and captivating
