Not too bad, definitely not my cup of tea. Still, I'm glad I read it!

Thank you Netgalley and Text Publishing for granting me an arc of this book!

It was so cute. I loved it really. I liked the representation of the main charater. Natalie was struggling with very bad skin, and I just felt that. While my bad skin wasn't as bad as Natalies, I did feel the insecurity that came with it. And the fact that she wanted to hide her back while swimming, and her face in school, afraid people would judge her for her skin. I also felt that PCOS rep, because me.

Anyways, cute story, love the romance, and I like how it's set in Australia, instead of the US. I have been reading a lot of American fiction, so this was nice, and I'd like to read more. I can understand how the romance in this book would be awkward for some of the characters, but on the other hand, it's great, and I felt it. I wanted more of it though! I liked that we got a whole lot of backstory for our main character and why she behaved certain ways.

I would definitely recommend it. It's short, and it's a nice and quick read. I mean I read it before I went to sleep, and started reading again after I woke up. Yay for this book! Probably like 4,5 stars even!

3.5 rounded up

I thought this was a really impressive YA romance debut. It does seem set up for a sequel, though, which I don’t know if I want. If it isn’t, the situation with the MC’s parents and friends is almost entirely unresolved…I recognize that life is like that, but I was hoping for a cleaner ending.

I love this book. I was able to relate to Natalie so much. She was the classic teenage girl who is scared of everything that is happening around her, worried about her body's insecurities and her future. The question she asked herself are questions I remember asking myself for sure and are still questions I ask myself every so offend. Nina Kenwood was able to suck me into Natalie's world without any issues and I would totally read more by her! Definitely recommend this to anyone who is applying to colleges, parents are getting a divorce or just have issues in their friend groups due to dating within the group.

*****I received an E-ARC off of Netgalley*****

I'm offended by the amount of quotes I found relatable in this book. Mainly because the protagonist is the most insecure, pathetic, anti social, self hating to death kind of person ever. She is my spirit animal, naturally.

I don’t know what I was expecting tbh. Maybe I expected a teen age angsty first love high school fluffy rom-com.
But this wasn’t it. This book is basically two hundred pages of really relatable but awful moments tied together while having little to no plot.
Despite having absolutely no plot, not a good romance, or a heartbreakingly good friendship I still managed to finish it without feeling like I was doing chores. A win, really.

Read this coming of age in one day and really enjoyed it! The writing pulled me in from the start and I really empathized with 18 year old Natalie, who finds out at the very beginning of the book that her parents are divorcing. Natalie is recovering from chronic cystic acne and has lots of scars over her body, which makes her super self-conscious and shy around the opposite sex. But her best friend's 19 year old brother starts noticing her, and the two of them together are this delightful combination of awkward, goofy, adorable.

Highly recommend this one for teens who are looking for a coming of age story.
