I read this 6 years ago. But I remember the story enchanted me! It was very touching and very thrilling!
My only difficulty was with Mr. Sagan slow pace of storytelling. But that's no reason to avoid this book, the story really is unique and (the cliche) much better than the movie, more more intelligent!

Overall, very interesting context for Sagan. It kept your attention with Ellie’s story while also talking about history, art and science with passion. I enjoyed it and it still has something to be inspired by even in 2024.

This book seemed to be annoyingly anti-religious for most of it, and then did a complete 180 at the end and seemed to be trying to be very scientifically religious. I'm left wondering what Carl Sagan's real feelings on religion actually are.

- "She consented to wrote memorizations, but knew that it was at best the hollow shell of an education."
- "...In every religion, there was a docrinal line beyond witch it insulted the inteligence of it's practitioners. Reasonable people maight dissagree as to where that line should be drawn, but relegions truspassed well beyond it at their peril."
