I love this author but this FMC wasn't my fave. For a cop she got nauseous over crimes a bit too often. It didn't mesh with who she was supposed to be professionally. And it may be a silly reason to dock points but it happened often enough I couldn't not.
Other than that it was tense and gripping and intriguing. She does a fantastic job of making you think you know who done it then throwing a twist that leaves you doubting yourself.
It wasn't my favorite of hers but still a fun read.

An amazingly brilliant story! Terrific characters and a great storyline make this an excellent read! Also loved all the surprises thrown in! Can't wait to see what happens next for Vera!

New series! New kick butt main female character! New mysteries to uncover and murders to solve!! These are all good things from Debra Webb!
Vera is abruptly brought home when her stepmother's body is found. Good timing since she is in the process of being fired from her job. But coming home is never easy and Vera has to face the fact that her own family's history may not be as upstanding as she thought. The same goes for the small town they live in. I enjoyed getting to know a new cast of characters and slowly learning what has been hidden. I thought the resolution was very unique and interesting and am looking forward to the next book(s) in the series!
