Biased rating cause I read this when I was a kid. It's a solid spooky YA series.

I remember liking it, but I'll have to re-read and update my review accordingly as it was a few years ago that I read this.

If you're a fan of fantasy and horror, especially witches and the like, you'll probably like this quite a lot!

I had a hard time deciding on what to rate this... 2 or 3 stars? Maybe I will say 2.5 because I did like it (for a children's book) but I didn't love it as much as I love some others.

There were a few good moments that I was creeped out and was very glad I was reading this in the day time.

Overall, it was not what I was expecting and maybe that is why I am a bit disappointed. It is very reminiscent of the Darren Shan/Shaw series (what was it called?) although this was quite a bit better.

Entertaining, a really fast-read and a good mixture of dark, mysterious and thoughtful. It’s easy to forget the main character is 13yo, but once you remember it’s easier to suspend your disbelief (which is needed sometimes).

Most importantly, the book is for children (is it tho?) or, like, middle grade schoolers, so it doesn’t take itself seriously. It definitely fulfilled what it set out to do, in the exact right length. (Also, the writing style is cute, I like it)

First of all, no real book should be as fast as this was to read. Second of all, the movie was better, which should never be said about a book.
