Galaxy: The Prettiest Star by Jadzia Axelrod

The artwork in this graphic novel is great! It’s set apparently in the DC universe, they mention Superman a few times, and follows Taylor who’s in disguise as a human boy when in reality she’s a space princess. The story definitely parallels what happens when someone comes out after Taylor sheds her human disguise and lives as her true self. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes if it continues, but I think it’s also fine as a standalone.

Galaxy: The Prettiest Star had a good plot, but was not what I expected.  I enjoyed but didn't love.  I know the characters are in high school, but I felt there was utter carelessness displayed by Taelyr once she met the love interest.  I understand the plot is to be your true authentic self, but there's a fine line to potentially putting others in danger and don't care.  I was also shocked at the sexism, but I guess that is real life.  My favorite character is the doggy.  Fun time when he enters the mix.  I did find the graphics busy and I didn't know what was going on via the pictures a lot of the time so I kept up with the dialogue mostly.

I really enjoyed this book, sadly like books in the past, I wish there was more.
