I've got a few words for this book: Creeepy! Ewwwwww! and Yeeeccchhhhh!
Although the premise is the same - parasitic beings taking over humanity - it's completely different to The Host. X-Files meets 28 Days Later, anyone? I think people who like horror (Stephen King, especially) would love this. It's got me worried about this darn rash, that's for sure!

Just wasn’t vibing. Dated language, a little casual homophobia - not dealbreakers from a book that’s from 2008 but I was struggling to get invested so putting it aside for now. Might come back to this when I’ve exhausted the rest of the pandemic medical thriller subgenre.
It may be cliche, but this book was a real page turner. I was a little put off by all the gore - okay, it probably wasn't that bad, but I have a weak stomach. The thriller aspect greatly overshadowed the horror aspect of the book, which is what kept me reading. This book is a great addition to the techno-thriller genre.

2.5⭐️ rounded up. This is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever read, and definitely the most disgusting. Absolutely insane. The dialogue is atrocious and it’s laced with derogatory language/viewpoints, and I genuinely couldn’t tell whether the author was satirizing or sympathizing with the latter. And yet… the premise and story, and even the science-y bits… were kinda good. I feel like I have no idea what I just experienced.

i really don't understand why they haven't made a movie based on this book. It's gross, i loved it! this is why scott sigler is 1 of my favorite authors.
This had a very interesting premise. It was just too gross for me. I should have checked better with some of the ratings and previous reviews...I think if I had, I would have skipped over this one.
It's not that the story was bad or that the characters were too bad, I just don't fully enjoy a story if I have to skim the parts where he's digging root things out of his legs....just, gag!

The book was okay. There was a distracting amount of Nazi and Holocaust references in the first half of the book that really took me out of it a few times.
Grossed me out, but kept me interested, except through the boring sports/military talk parts.
